Updated 03/29/2007 Pope John Paul II 1920-2005
John Paul II, life as lived by example of Jesus Christ.
"Be not afraid" as stated by Pope Benedict XVI, close friend and assistant to John Paul II. "He is firmly holding my hand". Statements of early homily on the continued work on the completion of the work of John Paul II in selection for Pope and mission of the church for next several years. John Paul in his earlier days as a Cardinal in Poland under communist rule had wanted to preach to the young people. This would not be allowed by the communists, however holding a rock concert both gained the attention of young people and allowed preaching between the acts. A way of getting around the rules of the time. An early way that showed how one person can start something small and as Pope became the World Youth Days celebrated by John Paul II. Leading up to the year of the third millennium of the church, John Paul stated that he had been selected by God to lead the church into the year 2000. At this time already there were the health problems and questions of the ability to continue as Pope. John Paul II not only proved correct, but added teaching leading up to his final days here the comparison that this was his cross and that life has it difficulties and reason up and until final natural death. As even leading to his final weeks he showed his belief in his communication, even by not being able to state words a mere gesture and attempt to state words of blessing that his assistants and followers could easy place the words. A funeral that showed the amount of influence on the world this one humble man from Poland could do for the world, the common people to all the world leaders, no one person had this influence on the modern world. So John Paul II was a true revelation of Christ to us. Being the first Pope to do such extensive travel, to have an email address, and be so open to the common people of the world. Many young people liked W.W.J.D. (What would Jesus Do) and many of them as seen in World Youth Day and other events that John Paul II how to in today's world do what Jesus would do. The future of the Church is much in the hands of the young people and the rest of us. As Pope Benedict XVI has accepted, the work is not done. For John Paul II his work in this world is done and it is time to continue...
