Message from Dear
Brother Knights, The
school year is now in full swing and it is hard to imagine that the summer break
is over. There is a great deal that kicks into high gear as September
rolls around and this year is no different. We just had our Knights golf
outing and Tootsie Roll is just around the corner. Although
I was not able to be in attendance at the last meeting, I would like to thank
the Knights for supporting Bishop Sartain’s March for Life trip in January.
I am speaking at the Thomas Dooley and Romeo Blanchette Fourth Degree Councils
in September on the same topic. There will also be opportunities for the
various councils to sponsor one of the buses, including the bishop’s bus, for
the trip with the name of their council posted on the front of the bus.
Each council throughout the Diocese has received information about the March and
will have an opportunity to send a representative and show their support for our
Bishop and for Life. Although
the March is not until January, each of the Please be assured of my prayers and thoughts for you and your families In
Christ, Fr.

is a certain responsibility in soliciting someone to join the K of C. Beyond the
simple signature on the form 100, it is vital that the sponsor advise the
candidate as to the upcoming degree ceremony dates. You can call anyone on
the membership committee to ascertain the dates. Then, you ask which of
the dates would be convenient for the candidate. Tentatively, arrange for his
participation on that day and advise one of the committee. If you cannot
accompany your candidate to the ceremony, one of the committee will. If
you cannot accompany the newly degreed member to his first meeting, one of the

As our society continues to debate the obligation to defend innocent life in all of its stages, we can expect that there are those who will seek their vaunted 15 minutes of fame by terminating innocent life as tragically happened at NIU, at Virginia Tech and too many other scenes. We have to be aware of that. There is abroad in our culture, a moral relativism that is very dangerous and when we devalue any one human life, we lay open the terrible gateway to disvaluing all human life. These are things that we should
