 Tootsie Roll Drive 2008

The annual Tootsie Roll Drive is September 19, 20, and 21.  We are hoping for 100% participation from our council.  Volunteers are needed to collect money at designated locations; also Knights are needed to act as captains.  If you are unable to stand for long periods of time, help out counting money collected during the drive.  For more information, or if you would like to volunteer contact Bill Bechwith at 630-445-9970, lets make this year the best ever, with your contribution of time we can set a new drive record.  Friends and family are welcome to participate; there will be sign up sheet at the September 2nd business meeting.

Blood Drive

Blood Drive – Saturday, September 27, 2008  

The Knights of Columbus and Heartland Blood Centers will be holding a blood drive in the lower level, Zuker Hall, of SS Peter and Paul’s Junior High building, 201 E. Franklin Ave. on Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 7:30 AM until 12:30 PM.  A member of the Knights of Columbus will be calling previous donors to schedule an appointment, but new blood donors are greatly needed.  What better way to serve than to save a life with a gift of blood.  The entire process takes about an hour.  Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.  Call Darrell Hutton at 630-961-0526 if you have questions, and to make an appointment.  A photo ID will be required.  Please donate!

Each donor will receive a gift of a Heartland BBQ tool set.  Plus, to help celebrate the grand opening of Heartland’s  new St. Charles Center, each blood donor’s name during the month of September will be entered in a drawing for two Vespa Motor Scooters (a great way to save on gas!), one Wii system, and one iPod Nano!

SS Peter and Paul and St. Raphael’s parishes are coordinating their blood drive efforts so that each parish will hold two drives per year.  The last one was at St. Raphael’s June 7, 2008 , and their next one will be December 20, 2008 .   The drives are scheduled at least eight weeks apart, so donors can give on all four dates if they wish.
